The Yakima ShowDown offers amazing capacity in a load assist boat carrier, with up to 36.3kg being handled with ease. With facilities for either one kayak, or up to two boards.

The mount tilts down to lower the loading point 66cm below the roof rack height, making it easier than ever to load your kayak, surfboards, or SUPs.  This mechanism takes 30% to 45% of the weight for you, depending on the boat width, and then assists to lift the boat or board(s) onto the rack. If you've ever transported heavier kayaks on roof racks you'll appreciate the help this system offers, it basically takes all the back breaking work out of the task.

Another great feature is the felt lined cradles to protect the hull of your boards or boat, a small thing but makes a big difference to using it with confidence. The ShowDown also folds flat when it's not in use so as to minimize the drag and wind noise it may generate, again, it's a nice little extra feature to have. 

The system weighs only 9.5kg all in all, so it's easy to fit and handle in itself, this also allows a lower impact on the total roof carrying capacity for your vehicle. To make life easier again, it has universal mounting hardware so it'll fit onto most roof rack manufacturer's products. 

For security this carrier has the option of being lockable with Yakima SKS locks, sold separately. So you can enjoy paddling or surfing knowing that no-one is going to steal your carrier while you're on the water. You can also key alike all your Yakima products by purchasing lock cores separately. To seal the deal Yakima is also including all necessary tie down straps with the system. Although tie down straps are easy to find, including them for free is still a nice gesture from Yakima to their customers and theirs are specifically designed for this system.

This is a kayak carrier full of great features that comes in at medium price, it's not the cheapest but it's also not the most expensive. It represents great value for money, with features found only in the most expensive systems at a lower price point.
