Do I need a bull bar?

Material & Design matters — how your bull bar’s build quality affects your driving experience

Your choice of bull bar and its build material can make a big difference in how your 4WD responds to impacts on the road and how it contributes to your 4x4’s GVM — gross vehicle mass, the total weight of your entire vehicle, including passengers.

Steel bull bars

Steel bull bars are known for their strength and durability. Their solid construction means they don’t have to rely on reinforcing their build with extra thick walls, like other materials do, to achieve the same range of stability.

Most bull bars you’ll see on Australian roads are made of steel, and for good reason. Their resilience to respond to harsh conditions, like corrugations and animal strikes make them the number one choice for people who actively work and drive in remote and regional areas.

Aluminium bull bars

Aluminium bull bars for 4x4s offer a balance of protection, weight reduction, and corrosion resistance, making them a popular choice for 4x4 drivers.

IRONMAN 4X4’s aluminium bull bars offer a lightweight construction, up to 30% lighter than steel, that can help improve fuel efficiency, manage your car’s GVM and reduce strain on your vehicle’s suspension.
